When should I book my session?
In most cases, we recommend booking your session at least 2 months in advance, but we’re occasionally able to fit in last minute clients if our schedule allows it. For maternity and newborn sessions, please contact us when you’re in your second trimester to make sure we are able to fit you into our schedule. Once your baby is born, we will finalize your actual session date.
How long will my session last?
Sessions themselves vary in length, and can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours long. Newborn and family sessions tend to take the longest, whereas maternity, babies and older children sessions tend to be quicker.
What types of sessions do you offer?
While we love photographing newborns, we have years of experience photographing families, seniors, corporate headshots, events and weddings as well!
When is the best time for maternity portraits?
We recommend scheduling your maternity session between the 32-36 week timeframe.
When is the best time for newborn portraits?
The absolute best time to capture sleepy, curly newborn portraits is from 5-10 days of life. Give us a call in your second trimester to book!
When is the best time for holiday portraits?
In order to receive products for the holiday season, you should book your session before October 31st. We cannot guarantee products arriving before Christmas for sessions booked after the 31st.
What should we wear to our session?
We like you to be YOU! The only advice we give is to keep it simple and avoid large logos or thin stripes. Solid colors and neutrals work well. Newborns and young babies are best in the buff! :)
Can you come to our home?
Yes. Any session can be an on-location session at your home. There may be additional travel fees for distances farther than 30 miles from our studio. If you are considering a session at your home, light is an important factor. If your home doesn’t have great window light throughout the day, the studio or an outdoor location may be a better option.
Are portraits better in the studio?
It depends! Outdoor shoots tend to be more candid and varied, while indoor shoots tend to be more formal. Kids and babies under 3 years old tend to be less distracted when they’re indoors, so it’s easier for us to hold their attention on the camera. We prefer to capture families, seniors and older children outdoors, but we are more than happy to utilize the studio if you prefer.
